ILA Founders, Nick and Sophie Dunstone are pleased to announce the appointment of Becc Bates as CEO of ILA with effect from 18 December 2024. Becc joins ILA after a long career with the state government, most recently as Director of Strategy and Investment with Arts South Australia where she has led development of policy and strategies to support the arts and creative industries in South Australia. A long-time leader in the arts and creative industries, Becc has driven nation-leading work in supporting the music industry in South Australia. She was instrumental in the establishment of the state’s Music Development Office and over her career has initiated numerous industry development strategies. In 2024, Becc was awarded the Public Service Medal in recognition of her achievements and commitment to supporting creative industries in South Australia.
Current CEO Nic Mercer is transitioning to a role on the ILA Board and taking up a role as the CEO of AmpAura Australia, a battery company for South Australian families and businesses. Nic has been CEO of ILA since September 2022 and during this period has overseen the development of immersive functions at ILA, streamlined business operations and secured multiple partnerships including with The University of Adelaide, Helpmann Academy, TAFE SA, SALA and Illuminate Adelaide.

We are very pleased that Nic will retain his relationship with ILA by taking up a role on the Board.
Becc takes up the role 18 December 2024. Nic will leave ILA on 29 November 2024 with ILA GM, Antoinette Tyson, taking on the role of Acting CEO until Becc commences.
