Alexander Flood: ‘ARTIFACTUAL RHYTHM’ Album Launch

FRI

4 APR

7.30pm - 11.00pm

Fresh off the back of his 2024 Europe and UK tour, Australian beat-master Alexander Flood makes his return to The Lab for a hometown show celebrating the release of his new LP “ARTIFACTUAL RHYTHM”

Dubbed “nu-jazz”, “jazztronica” and “jazz-house”, Alex’s music takes influence from house, UK garage, drum n’ bass, broken beat, and of course jazz music. Having sold out venues across Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Europe, the band will feature some of the country’s best improvisers including Erica Tucceri, Jake Amy, and Dylan Paul, premiering new music with tight masterful drums, deep bass-lines, lush keyboard harmonies, and soaring jazz flute melodies.

Steeped in classic dancefloor rhythms, Alex’s new LP ‘ARTIFACTUAL RHYTHM’ presents a re-interpretation of club and DJ music through the lens of a live band with a jazzy edge. Tapping into sounds of the 90s and 2000’s while keeping his foot very firmly in the now and beyond, Flood’s new body of work is both for the dancefloor and the listener.

Setting the scene for the night will be Porch Records DJs and Live Slug Reaction + visuals by Miles Dunne.

Alex’s last performance at The Lab was a sell out show – tickets are available now, don’t miss out!
