As an extension of The Immersive Table, a three-course Art Salon Lunch invites guests to share an intimate afternoon with Alex Frayne and Liam Somerville, delving deeper into the making of MANIFEST DESTINY.
Over a menu inspired by the flavours and moods of the American South and West, Alex will share anecdotes from his creative road trips—encounters with strangers, moments of danger and beauty, and the challenges of creating art in a foreign land. The discussion will explore the blurred lines between art and journalism, the aesthetic decisions behind black and white versus colour, the tactile craft of analogue photography, and the politics and poetics of place.
Guests will gain insight into how an artist becomes part of the scene rather than a bystander, as Alex reads from his Tales of America—reflections that illuminate the solitude, complexity, and humanity at the heart of his journey. Guests can then venture to the ILA Gallery and Studio spaces to experience MANIFEST DESTINY in its entirety.
