Lab Rats X Richard Coburn: Music Videos in the Digital Age [Artist Talk]

Tues

27 Apr

5pm - 8pm

Join us for a stand-alone artist talk from artist, director, film maker and creative mind – Richard Coburn. Music videos have long been an outlet for some of the world’s best moving image media artists as well as a source of projects for early career filmmakers. But are they still relevant today?

This Lab Rats session will be an in-depth look at creating moving imagery for music as well as musings on the future of this particular art form in the all consuming digital world of today.

Using several examples of his work as case studies, Richard Coburn will examine the art of the music video and it’s lessons in low budget film making, visual effects and storytelling in a one-off artist talk/workshop in The Lab.

From diving into production techniques and the behind the scenes of filming, through to approaching editorial, post production and visual effects. Richard will also look at how the music video landscape has changed through the years as well as some advice for current practitioners.

Is the traditional music video dead or does this unique form of short film still have a place in the industry going forward?

For music video creators, film practitioners, musicians and film & music fans alike.
